We all know that the vocabulary of English is in a constant process of evolution, taking on new words and discarding others into obscurity. That obvious statement aside, the question is: has all that change been for good? I’d argue that the answer’s no, that are there some charming words that have gone out of common usage but deserve to be known again. Below are five examples of what I mean, and I’ve chosen to cite these words simply because they really appeal to me in some way. Perhaps they’ll chime with you, too.
